The Road to Franchise Success
If you are interested in pursuing the possibility of obtaining a license agreement to operate a Zaxby’s restaurant, click on the Get Started link below to complete a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire. Someone from our Franchising Department will then contact you to discuss your Questionnaire and answer your questions about the application process.
Please keep in mind, however, that following the process does not guarantee your approval as a franchisee. It is intended only to provide you with some general guidelines on what to expect and what information will be considered if you decided to apply for a Zaxby’s franchise. We reserve the right to modify the application process and our franchisee qualifications at any time without notice.

Zaxby’s Discovery Day: We conduct Discovery Days on an individual group basis so that the focus is on your opportunity. All members of a prospective group are required to attend Discovery Day hosted by Zaxby’s in Athens, GA. Our representatives from Operations, Training, Marketing and Market Planning teams will explain the support and services Zaxby’s provides as a franchisor. After Discovery Day, the Zaxby’s team will evaluate the fit of the individual(s) and determine a decision in allowing the prospective franchisee or prospective franchise group in moving forward in our process.
What You Do
- Submit Area of Consideration letter requesting development area within 60 days after meeting in Athens
- Work with your attorney to form legal entity that will constitute the prospective Zaxby’s Franchisee and submit organizational documents to us
- Schedule closing on new franchisee agreement and remit initial franchise fee

- Obtain legal organizational documents and prepare franchisee agreement closing documents
- Host closing in Athens
- Facilitate a meeting with you and your Pre-Opening Consultant
What You Do
- Select a qualified commercial Realtor to locate potential sites in your development area
- Negotiate for site and secure executed contract for purchase or leasehold
- Complete Site Selection Application and schedule an on-site visit with our real estate team
- Secure financing
- Close on real estate

- Review your Site Selection Application
- Travel to your site to evaluate the location and confirm whether or not it meets our minimum preferred site criteria
- Issue an exclusive area
What You Do
- Request bids from a list of ZFL’s approved general contractors
- Order plans and coordinate permitting
- Schedule a pre-construction meeting with our Design and Construction department and your general contractor
- Oversee construction of restaurant

- Review plans with you, your general contractor and your equipment vendor
- Periodically visit site during construction process
What You Do
- Attend required training program
- Coordinate with approved contractor and vendors for building construction
- Hire your team
- Open for business
What We Do
- Conduct frequent communication about your progress through your New Store Development Consultant
- Provide initial training to your management team
- Review and approve your Grand Opening Plan
- Provide assistance and additional training during pre-opening process

- Operate your restaurant in accordance with ZFL’s systems and procedures
- Provide opportunities to others and be an outstanding member of your community
- Maintain high standards and never compromise in quality, service and effort
What We Do
- Designate an Operations Consultant to serve as your primary point of contact with ZFL
- Facilitate communication among the Franchisee community through annual conferences, regional group meetings and the Zaxby’s Advisory Council
- Continue to lead the Brand through continual improvement
